Since 1984, Dr. Dai Hong (PhD, PhD, MS, MS, MS, BS) has been teaching math courses on the college level at Chongqing University, University of Connecticut, Boston College, and Dillard University. Before his teaching stint at those universities, he taught high school math in China from 1976-1978.
Unlike most test preparation programs that teach test-taking tips, Dr. Dai teaches substance, covering all knowledge points on the test. Throughout the duration of the test course program, Dr. Dai will employ his effective teaching system to correct common mistakes that are even made by the most advanced students. His one-on-one attention, systematic approach, combined with his unmatchable expertise, sets Dr. Dai’s teaching style apart from any other tutors.
Dr. Dai is currently a Co-Chair and Tenured Professor of Math and Actuarial Science at Dillard University, an Actuarial Assistant Director of Louisiana Alliance for Minority Participation (LAMP) Program and a national Conrad N. Hilton Mathematics/Actuarial Science Endowed Professor. He is a National Specialist on Algebra I and II Core Curriculum.
Dr. Amy Leggette completed her PhD in Comparative Literature at the University of Oregon, where she taught literature and French language for 7 years. Dr.Leggette’s approach to teaching cultivates dynamic learning relationships to support individual’s growth and targeted gains. Working as Teaching Assistant in France, she coached urban high school students to demonstrate English proficiency on college-entrance exams.
Dr. Leggette currently teaches 6th- 9th grade level English Language Arts and helps prepare students for the High School Equivalency exam as an instructor at Delgado Community College.
Kathy Touchard has 15 years of teaching experience; her primary focus has been Kindergarten through 5th grade. Prior to joining the NOLA Learning Center team, she was a teacher at Ella Dolhonde Elementary School in Jefferson Parish. Instead of focusing on one subject, Ms. Touchard has experience tutoring in a variety of subjects and has worked with children from various backgrounds, and different levels of skill sets.
Ms. Touchard earned her Bachelor of General Studies degree from the University of New Orleans, and her Masters of Social Work degree from Southern University of New Orleans. Ms. Touchard also completed the State Alternative Teacher Education Program and earned her Teaching Certificate at the University of New Orleans.
Ms. Touchard is deeply passionate about working with children and believes all students should be valued and treated with respect. When not tutoring or spending time with family and friends, she spends her time gardening, cooking, reading, and playing with her three cats.
